Very generous school children raising money for children in hospital

Mackenzie and Luca, raised money using their spare Lego cards at Croft Church of England Primary School to raise money for children being treated at Leicester Children’s Hospital.

Mackenzie and Luca planned to hold a single fundraising day at school selling bundles of Lego cards, running a Lego card lucky dip and selling homemade cupcakes. The event was so popular that Mrs Colloto, their Head teacher, arranged for Sainsbury’s to donate boxes of cards to Mackenzie and Luca so they could continue running their fundraising stands every lunch time and after school for a week.

In total they raised £240.00 which has been split between the children and young people’s cancer ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary and the wider children’s hospital.

Pauline, Mackenzie’s mum, said “The whole enterprise was their own initiative from start to finish. They have shown such compassion to bring some happiness to children who are going through difficult times. We couldn't be more proud of them both.”

Mackenzie and Luca said “We had so many Lego cards left; we came up with the idea to sell them at school, to raise some money for the Children's Ward at LRI. Never did we imagine it would be such a successful event! We hope that the money we have raised will make the children's time in hospital more fun and a quicker experience.”
